2026 Young Builder of the Year Mark Cole is doing things differently.
With a thirteen-person team and a debt-free balance sheet, Mark’s approach
is built on an obsession with what happens behind the plasterboard.
‘I started in this industry sixteen years ago as a carpenter, and four years ago I started
Freedom Built because I wanted to prove that homes could be built differently,’ says Mark.
‘Calmer on site, more honest on paper, healthier in the walls, and better for the families
who would live in them. Quality, for me, is what you do when no one is looking.’
