Designed to respectfully expand the Australian War
Memorial’s heritage precinct, the project integrates advanced
engineering with masterful craftsmanship. Purpose built to
showcase iconic Large Technology Objects and deepen
public engagement with Australia’s military history, the new
facilities set a benchmark for cultural infrastructure.
In this project, the grandeur is evident in the details. The
brief was to connect the planned new structures to the
existing heritage buildings dating back to the 1940s and
1970s. This required precision technical skill and the very
best of planning and execution. The Atrium roof founds into
the original building, and every weld, pour and vibration had
to expertly managed, not only for structural integrity, but to
protect a national institution operating live, with staff and
visitors just metres away.
